Example agreements
Use of the Energy Connector (the Connector) requires parties to agree to certain terms that ensure the protection of households that have qualified for Low-Income Home Energy Assistance (LIHEAP) and have opted-in to access cost-saving community solar subscriptions. State community solar and LIHEAP agencies work with NREL to finalize and execute a non-binding Energy Connector agreement. Platform-wide consumer protections are outlined in the Subscription Manager Agreement, and states have the option to add additional protections if desired. Community solar subscription managers must abide by the terms set in the Subscription Manager Agreement before gaining access to the platform. Example agreements are accessible below.
The Energy Connector Agreement
Non-binding agreement (signed jointly by state community solar and LIHEAP administering agencies) that describes accepted use of the Connector. States can work with National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) to tailor the agreement.
Subscription Manager Agreement
Terms that all subscription managers must agree to before using the Connector. Covers data privacy, fair-use, and rights of subscription managers and households.
Terms and Conditions
Terms that all parties must agree to before using the Connector. Any updates to the terms will require re-agreement before users can access the tool.
Data Privacy
Attestation that all parties have read and agree to the data privacy rules NREL enforces. Can be adjusted to reflect individual state law as required.
