Project Weights
State Community Solar Administrating Agencies can prioritize projects based on two factors:
1. Expected Online Date: This category is calculated based on the expected online date for a project. Assigning higher weight to this characteristic will match subscribers to projects that will be energized sooner, meaning that households will receive community solar benefits and savings sooner than projects with longer lead times. All projects uploaded to the Connector must have an interconnection agreement in place, though these times may change over time. Subscription managers should keep the time to online accurately updated for all pending projects..
2. Minimum Subscription Discount Rate (%): This is the minimum expected bill credit discount rate for subscriptions to the project. Assigning higher weight to this characteristic will match subscribers to projects with higher minimum savings before projects with lower minimum savings.
The State Community Solar Program Administrating Agency can balance these two factors: greater savings and receiving savings sooner through the prioritization option on their dashboard. To view/edit the project weights, click “edit” in the dashboard. As with the household weights, these weights must sum to either 0% or 100%.
In this example, the State Community Solar Administrator chose to prioritize projects with a higher expected minimum subscription discount rate over projects that come online sooner, and therefore provided a higher weight to the first factor. This will mean that households with the greatest priority will be connected to projects with the greatest savings in this example. These factors can also be set equally or both set to 0% if a state does not want to prioritize projects.
